MENTORING
Our Tuakana program is dedicated to providing personalised support through mentoring sessions, creative guidance, personal and professional development, whānau support, and community connections.
Our goal is to offer one-on-one assistance through creative projects, discussions, whānau support, and other relevant activities. All our facilitators are VCA Police Vetted and extensively trained to deliver mentoring support effectively.
The Tuakana - Teina relationship is a Māori concept where an elder sibling (more experienced) provides guidance for a younger sibling (less experienced). The unique aspect of this relationship is that of organically reversing roles, where the Tuakana can, at any time, learn from the Teina.
WHEN AND WHERE
Mentoring is usually set up in response to the needs of our young people. We also mentor rangatahi who are not participants on our programs, if they have shown an interest in music, we can provide support for them where we are able to.
HOW CAN I GET A MENTOR?
We have to consider everyone on a case-by-case basis against a few considerations, so reach out to us to see if we are able to support you or your young people.
